Choosing the right retinol serum: Renew Serum

glo therapeutics has three fantastic serums that harness the skin-transforming power of retinol. In three blog posts we'll dive into the nitty gritty details about the retinol serums including the way they feel on the skin and what skin types each serum is best suited for.

Renew Serum (1 oz//$36.00)
Renew Serum delivers antibacterial, antimicrobrial and oil-control properties while stimulating mild exfoliation and cell renewal to improve skin's tone and texture. It can be used by mature skin but those with oily and acneic skin usually like it best!

Key ingredietns: 1% Retinol, 7% Glycolic Acid and 1% Salicylic Acid work together in Renew Serum. Salicylic Acid is great for treating acne-prone skin because it penetrates into the follicle. It exfoliates and kills p. acnes bacteria. Another key ingredient, Totarol, is antibacterial, antioxidant and antimicrobrial as well.

Feeling: A light, non-oily gel.

Directions: Use in the evening on clean skin. Allow it to penetrate for 30 minutes, and if needed, follow with a moisturizer. Can be used 2-7 times per week as tolerated and as needed.

Recommended for: Combination, acne-prone, oily and mature skin. This can also be beneficial for clients suffering from in-grown hair and keratosis pilaris. Can also be used as a home prep for professional chemical exfoliation treatments.

Choosing the right retinol serum: Retinol CS

glo therapeutics has three fantastic serums that harness the skin-transforming power of retinol. In three blog posts we'll dive into the nitty gritty details about the retinol serums including the way they feel on the skin and what skin types each serum is best suited for.

Retinol CS (1 oz//$50.00)
Retinol CS penetrates into the cell to regulate cellular activity. A low pH (2.3) aids in absorption into the skin. It's beneficial for all skin types and concerns including acne and aged skin.

Key ingredients: 3% Retinol and 4% Glycolic Acid work synergistically. Because each penetrates differently, exfoliation is thorough. Glycolic Acid is good for all but sensitive skin types. Brighteners, antioxidants and anti-inflammatory ingredients penetrate effectively with the Retinol and Glycolic Acid for maximum skin transformation.

Feeling: Retinol CS has a light gel-like consistency.

Directions: Apply in the evening, allowing it to penetrate for 30 minutes before applying a moisturizer. This is usually well-tolerated but can create initial sloughing and mild irritation. Begin by using twice a week. Increase to daily usage if desired.

Recommended for: Oily, acne-prone, mature skin and to prepare skin for exfoliation.

Choosing the right retinol serum: Tretinol 0.5%

glo therapeutics has three fantastic serums that harness the skin-transforming power of retinol. In three blog posts we'll dive into the nitty gritty details about the retinol serums including the way they feel on the skin and what skin types each serum is best suited for.

Tretinol 0.5% (1 oz//$60.00)
Tretinol 0.5% is an anhydrous retinol and antioxidant serum. It smooths the skin, reduces wrinkles and reduces hyperpigmentation creating a beautiful, luminous complexion.

Key ingredients: All-Trans-Retinol is the key ingredient in Tretinol 0.5%. It very efficiently converts to Retinoic Acid in the skin so that more of it is absorbed. Since it is in an anyhdrous base, it is very stable. Both All-Trans-Retinol and the anhydrous delivery system are patented. Vitamin C and Vitamin E are strong antioxidants which brighten and protect the skin.

Feeling: Experiencing this product is believing! Tretinol 0.5% applies like velvet and immediately smooths the surface of the skin.

Notes: This is a strong product and skin sloughing is not unusual even after using it once or twice. Its potency makes it a great rejuvenation treatment for sluggish skin or a great prep for a chemical exfoliation treatment.

Directions: Apply in the evening on clean skin. Start by using Tretinol 0.5% twice a week and increase as tolerated. For skin that can't tolerate use more than twice a week (or even less) occasional use is still beneficial.

Recommended for: All but oily skin and sensitive skin.

Shannon's Skin Transformation - What She Says (Part 3)

Shannon - our skin-transformation muse - shares more of her experience upgrading her skincare routine using glo therapeutics and glo minerals.

"It's now been about 8 months since I started using the skincare products from glo and I can honestly say that my skin has been transformed. It feels and looks completely different and I have never felt more confident about the way I look. I was so impressive to have not just one individual but a 'team' study my skin, discuss which products would be the most effective and be truly dedicated to the end result. I can honestly say that I have lost track of how many of my friends coworkers and family members have inquired at one time or another about my skin and what I have been doing to make it look so good! It makes me smile, from the inside out, and I now know why glo stands so strongly behind their products and has such a strong following. I have also learned first hand why they decided to label these products with the name "glo" because I do glo!"

Shannon's Skin Transformation - What she says (Part Two)

Above: Shannon's glo minerals makeover after her skin transformation.

Above: Shannon's skin before we began treatments. Her concerns included breakouts, congestion, enlarged pores, fine lines and wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, uneven tone and texture, dehydration

Above: Shannon's beautiful bare skin after we overhauled her daily skincare routine and gave her a series of professional treatments.

Shannon - our skin-transformation muse - shares more of her experience upgrading her skincare routine using glo therapeutics and glo minerals.

"I have never been very disciplined when following any kind of skin regimen. Many I tried before involved multiple steps and I found them very time-consuming. So at first, I was a little worried that I would not be able to stay consistent with the daily and nightly routine. However, I was very pleased to see that the products were easy to use and did not require a lot of time at all. I actually looked forward to using them as I loved the way they made my skin look and feel."

"In December, after using glo's products for less than a month, I went to visit family in Texas for the holidays. My sister used to work for a cosmetics company and she has always been in the know when it comes to skin care. She immediately asked me what I had been using on my face. One particular morning, as I was sipping my coffee trying to wake up she said that it looked like I had makeup on. I was pleased to say that I didn't and I decided to forgo it for the rest of the day!"

"As I continued to use the products, I noticed that the dark spots on my face were beginning to lighten and some disappeared completely. The small bumps that used to cover my forehead and chin were completely gone. I also started to notice that the wrinkles under my eyes had softened and instead of being dried out and flaky, my skin overall looked 'dewy' and refreshed. It was exciting to see such great results after using the products for such a short time!"
