Many people mistakenly assume that they only need to wear sunscreen when enjoying a day at the beach. However, just because the sun seems farther away, doesn't mean that it's stopped shining.
The sun's rays come in two forms: UVA and UVB. Ultraviolet A rays are called aging rays, because they can cause premature aging, wrinkles, and age spots. And ultraviolet B rays are called burning rays because they are the primary cause of sunburn. UVA rays can pass through glass, but UVB rays cannot. Nevertheless, all rays become stronger when they are reflected on things like windows in downtown metropolitan areas and stretches of snow on the slopes. Another little-known fact is that up to 80 percent of all rays can pass through clouds on a cloudy day.
