What happens when you give two talented makeup artists with very different skintones the challenge of creating one look using glominerals Shimmer Brick in luster? You get two completely stunning looks! glo National Educator, Janeena, took on our One Product, Two Looks challenge and are happy to share her secrets.
“What I love about the Shimmer Brick in luster is its versatility. It can be used on eyes, cheeks and lips- the combinations are truly endless,” says Janeena. “In addition to being a great multitasker, its versatility extends to its ability to look stunning on all skin tones.”
Janeena first used the highlight shade from the Brow Kit as a base by applying it to her whole lid. Then, using the Shimmer Brick in luster she placed the bronze color in her crease. Next, she used the three shimmery shades to build up color on her whole lid, blending the colors into the crease and inner corners of her eyes. She then used the lightest color as a highlighter down the center of her nose, cupids bow, chin and center of her forehead. For her lips, she first applied Precise Micro Lipliner in delilah, followed by Lipstick in natural. Then she added the gold shimmer from the Shimmer Brick to her lips and topped it with Cream Blush in guava.
For the other look, we first applied Cream Eyeliner in espresso then applied the purple/brownish color from the Shimmer Brick on top. The bronze color was then applied to the crease and the gold shade under her browbone. For her cheeks, she used the Texture Brush to swirl all of the colors together which created a dewy glow. Lastly, she applied the pink shade on top of the Lip Duo in pink.
We hope this inspires you to get creative with the Shimmer Brick in luster and try some new combinations! Have any additional questions? Let us know on our Facebook page!

Q: Hi Kate! What tips do you have for finding the right eyeliner shade for your eye color?
Kate: When it comes to making the right choice of liner for your eye color, things can sometimes get confusing! My basic suggestion (not a rule by any means, as rules are made to be broken!) is to pick an eyeliner color that is opposite your eye color in undertone.
For example, when it comes to brown eyes, most people want them to look as rich as possible. Using blues and charcoals will help brown eyes really stand out.
For blue eyes, you could certainly use a navy liner BUT I like using a black/brown liner to really brighten blue eyes.
I have green eyes which puts me smack in the center of cool and warm. So which color do I choose? When allergy season hits (bear with me) and my eyes are red the green pops like crazy! That tells me to choose a liner with a red undertone, like purple or a light brown. I like Precision Eye Pencil in plum.
Those of you with hazel eyes are lucky! You can use any liner color and it will bring out different shades of your eye color. Browns will bring out the yellow. Blue will bring out the brown and purple will bring out the green.
For our grey/blue eyed friends, using black liner will sharpen the color of your eye and really make them pop!

Whether due to days worshiping the sun, melasma, or simply genetics- dark spots can be a frustrating skin concern for people of all ages and skin types. One common question we get here at glo is how to treat dark spots or hyperpigmentation on the face and neck. Below are a couple easy to follow tips on treating dark spots, sun damage and hyperpigmentation. Before we dive into the treatments, let’s talk about prevention.
Exposure to the sun will not only create dark sun spots, but can exasperate conditions like melasma and hyperpigmentation making the spots darker and more pronounced. In addition, once you start your brightening routine, it’s extremely important to remember that unprotected or excessive sun exposure can delay or inhibit results. Prevent age spots and help keep existing spots to a minimum by applying sun protection daily.
Read below for our recommended routine for treating dark spots, hyperpigmentation and Melasma.
1) Add a brightening exfoliant to your routine - Using an exfoliant to remove dead skin cells and debris will not only leave your skin feeling refreshed, but it will also enhance the absorption of natural brighters. Brightening Polish uses ingredients like Kojic Acid to inhibit the production of melanin (the culprit of dark spots) and Turmeric to help heal sun damaged skin.
Used 2-3 times a week, the Brightening Polish is the first step in creating a brighter complexion. It can also be used as a brightening mask when left on for 5-10 minutes. Brightening Polish is recommended for all skin types except for very sensitive skin and acneic skin. If your skin is sensitive and you would like to treat hyperpigmentation, Daily Polishing Cleanser is a great choice. The gentle formulation cleanses and polishes the skin with Salicylic Acid and Jojoba Beads while Sepiwhite, a lightening agent made from natural amino acids, helps to create a radiant, even skin tone.
2) Apply a Morning and Evening Serum - To see the best brightening results, it’s important to create a consistent routine. Using a Vitamin C Serum every morning will give your skin the antioxidants it needs to look and feel its best. Vitamin C Serums promotes wound healing and suppresses cutaneous pigmentation. In the evenings, try adding a serum with mild exfoliation benefits and a brightening ingredient like Renew Serum. Adding Renew Serum will aid in cell renewal, even skin tone and allow other brightening ingredients (from your Spot Treatment Serum) to be more effective.
3) Add a Spot Treatment Serum - Both the Brightening and Lightening Serums are specifically formulated to visibly reduce the appearance of dark skin spots. These serums contain active ingredients like Azelaic Acid to combat hyperpigmentation. When used as a spot treatment daily, these serums will target discoloration and create a fresh glowing complexion. Which serum is right for you? Take a look at this post on the differences between our Brightening and Lightening Serum.

Name: Cass Murray
Department: Corporate Recruiter (check out our current openings!)
Skin Type: Oily/ Combination
Morning Skin Care Routine: I'm over 40 and never worked in the industry before joining glo. I've learned a lot about my skin, mostly to be gentle! I use Daily Polishing Cleanser to exfoliate and Pure Hydration to keep my skin fresh throughout the day as I tend to get shiny by mid-morning. Oil Free SPF 40+ is my life saver in the mile high city! I use Pressed Base in natural light to give my skin an extra layer against the damaging rays. I also spritz Moist Hydration Mist to set my base and throughout the day and when Denver’s dry climate has my skin wishing for a drink of moisture!
Evening Skin Care Routine: I've damaged my skin in the past by worshipping the sun so I wash the day away with gentle Purifying Gel Cleanser and apply Retinol CS. I love the idea of a natural botanical skin brightener combined with the power of Retinol and Glycolic Acid to improve my skin tone and texture while I sleep.
Hair Care Routine: My naturally curly, frizzy hair loves this dry climate as long as I keep it in check with Intense Replenish Hydro- Nourish Shampoo and Conditioner. My hair is fine but full of body so I control fly aways and add instant shine with Infinite Shine Smoothing Oil. A tiny bit goes a long way!
Can’t Live Without Products: Moisture is so vital to healthy skin so Moist Hydration Mist is a MUST HAVE in this desert climate but I can't live without my Infinite Shine Smoothing Oil, or my Oil Free SPF 40+ Sunscreen that prevents damage from the sun. Honestly, I just can't live without any of my glo products!

Hi Kate- What’s the best way to cover dark under eye circles?
Kate: Whether we blame a long night or our genetics, we’ve all suffered dark under eye circles at some point. Luckily there is a solution and glo minerals has it for you!
For dark circles, start with skin care. Find an eye cream like glo therapeutics Eye Restore. Eye cream is an essential foundation for combating any dark or puffy eye issues.
Next you want to grab glominerals Corrective Camouflage Kit. Use the yellow neutralizer to help tone down the dark circle. I like to apply my concealers with the Texture Eye Brush, this allows blended, airbrushed looking coverage and helps avoid the common pitfall of using too much product.
After I neutralize the area with the yellow concealer, I use my Concealer Under-Eye. (Tip: if you wear Pressed Base in golden medium you will most likely wear Concealer Under Eye in golden). Lay the dark shade down first to further neutralize and then layer the light shade on top.
If you still feel like your circles are showing through, tap Brightener Highlight Concealer under eyes to reflect light and erase any lingering shadows.
Expert tip: Another thing I love to do is keep my Eye Revitalize in the fridge. It is the first thing I put on in the morning after I wash my face to help with puffy dark eyes!

We believe that a great shade of lipstick can instantly brighten your mood. Anna Warner, a 4-time cancer survivor, couldn't agree more! Anna used lipstick as a platform to help inspire others while she herself was battling throat cancer through her blog-turned-book, “My Lipstick Journey Through Cancer.” Anna’s touching story (see below) has a happy ending and she recently celebrated by participating in the Esprit de She Triathlon in Napperville. Not only did she compete, but she was also asked to sing the National Anthem which was something doctors told her she would never do again!
We were so inspired by Anna that we were honored to donate Lipstick in treasure to all of the cancer survivors participating in the race. Read about Anna’s journey in her own words below and be sure to check out her blog!
Anna’s Lipstick Journey
by Anna Warner
Isn’t it amazing how a good lipstick can make you feel? What a great color can do for
your face, for your mood? I grew up with big lips…all the rage now, but I grew up when
Farrah Fawcett and Cheryl Tiegs were hitting their peak…thin lips. The last thing I ever
wanted to highlight was my lips. After college and beyond, larger lips started becoming
the obsession…thank you Angelina Jolie! I am a lipstick fanatic. I am a wife, mother, and
singer and have sang on stage, radio, and television. Music has always been my passion
and my voice, an important part of my life.In December of 2007 I began a journey that changed me forever. After suffering for
months with a sore throat, I was finally diagnosed with papillary thyroid cancer. Going
into surgery in January I felt confident that they would take out my thyroid and my
cancer journey would be over. After the surgery I was told two things; my cancer had
spread throughout my neck and probably my lungs, and that I would never sing again
because my right laryngeal nerve was cut during the six hour surgery leaving my right
vocal cord permanently paralyzed.
The next two and a half years were extremely difficult, cancer just kept coming back. My
last surgery was the most complicated. The large tumor had completely surrounded my
left nerve as well as invaded part of my trachea, amazingly it was a success. Afterwards I
did seven weeks of aggressive external beam radiation to finally rid myself of the cancer.
Unfortunately, the radiation and scar tissue partially paralyzed my remaining left vocal
cord.My journey has been incredible. I’m still having a little difficulty breathing, but yes,
agait st all odds, with one paralyzed vocal cord and another partially paralyzed, I am
singing again! I have learned many things along the way. Many people from my past,
friends, and even strangers prayed for me, encouraged me, and even made meals for
my family. It was a stunning reminder that sometimes a moment or chance encounter
is enough time to impact someone’s life in either a positive or negative way. It’s the
simple command, “Love God, Love others,” (and tell them often). I also learned that
everyone has a story, so take your time listening. In my silence, I was able to truly listen.
We live in a virtual society where relationships and physical presence have gotten lost.
People still want to be hugged, look them in the eyes, open yourself up and be present
because time goes so fast! Of course, use your voice, it’s a gift. Use it to stand up for
what you believe in, to encourage and tell others how much you care and love them,
to praise God who gave it to you. But choose your words wisely because words are
powerful, they come from the heart.
Why lipstick? Because each piece of this journey was a different lipstick color to me;
from nude (exposed), to pink (hopeful), to brown (dull), to raisin (radiation). Today, I am
a red lipstick wearing girl. Bold, confident, and loving life! Of course, true beauty comes
from within. Lipstick just adds a little pizzazz!
