Strobing 101: How to Strobe

Strobing 101: Highlighting Like a Pro

Strobing, hailed as the anti-contouring, focuses on adding intense highlight to the high points of the face with illuminating powders and creams. How do you get this ultra-highlighted look with mineral makeup? glo National Makeup Artist, Janeena Billera, tells us how.

Best Products for Strobing

There are several different products that can be used to achieve the strobed look. A cream or liquid highlighter applied on the highpoints of the face gives a more natural finished glow. An illuminating highlight powder is the best option for combination skin and can be worn for a more intense highlight.

How to Strobe

When we use cream and powder together, magic happens. I love laying down a soft, luminescent cream or liquid highlighter to the center of the forehead, down bridge of the nose, orbital bone, brow bone, cupids bow, inner corners of the eyes and the center of the chin.

Next, top those same areas off with a lightweight highlight powder using the Eye Blender Brush for precision. The shimmer highlight shade from the Contour Kit in medium to dark is perfection. By using this technique of layering powder over cream, the look will last longer throughout the day, as well as give a naturally dewy and fresh complexion.

The last step is to simply add a light pop of color by using a cream blush on the apples of the cheeks for warmth, and blend, blend, blend.
